Drivers often ignore barricades at site of fatal train crash, neighbors say

The railroad crossing southeast of downtown where a 22-year-old woman was killed early Tuesday is a site where drivers often take risks, according to residents who live in the area.

“When they come down, they’ll still go through the barriers. I see it every single day,” Nazario Guerra, a resident, said. “I told my wife, ‘Sooner or later, someone is going to get clipped, or someone’s going to get hurt.'”

Guerra’s prediction came true shortly before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
